When they were children, BoredPanda user Doña Mont and her sister would anxiously await the next installment of the "Adventures of Moñoño the Pirate." It wasn't a TV series or even a book — it was much more special.
Every night, their dad — who Doña Mont describes as an "office guy by day, creative storyteller by night" — would make up his own fairy tales for the girls.
They were swashbuckling pirate adventures with a personal touch: they all included the three of them as characters. The girls were brave pirate women, and their father was the first mate. Eventually, an entire fictional world was created.
Doña Mont and her sister grew up, but over the next 30 years, they never forgot their father's tales — and neither did he.
After making a chance find, he created a touching gift for his daughters and, like the woman who toiled for so long over a single project, he knows that there's a wonderful pride that goes into making something with your hands.

One day, when their father found a model ship for sale, all his memories of Moñoño came flooding back. He immediately set to work building a scale model of the pirate world he'd created so long ago.
According to his daughter, he never really had much experience with sculpture or model building, but it seems he has the knack — and the patience — for it.
He started by making the mountain of the main island, using plaster and wire.
The bay and beach were made using blue paper, sand, paint, and cotton. The rowboats were made from nutshells and matchsticks.
For other details, like the trees, treasure chests, and characters, he used scale models.
He was, of course, careful to include the characters based on his daughters.
In his stories, Doña Mont and her sister became adventurous pirates who sailed to exotic locations in search of treasure.
Now, the tales this creative dad told his daughters so many years ago have come to life, full of as much texture and detail as the stories themselves.
