Everybody loves a doting dad!
After all, dads are the ones who carry you upstairs when you’re little, and give you away on your wedding day years later — maybe even with the addition of a special song and dance routine.
They hang up tire swings, give piggyback rides, and, in the case of one very lucky 3-year-old boy, they might even make you your very own garage just like Mom and Dad’s!
In a home project for the parenting record books, one dad pulled together an incredible lean-to structure off the side of his house, for the express purpose of giving his little boy a place to park his toy push-along cars.
Now, his little one’s favorite playthings will be safe out of the rain, and as he gets older, this will quickly become the coolest play-fort ever for games of pretend with the other neighborhood kids. It’s even better than a tree house!
The project started out as a simple frame, with a plywood floor and an angled plywood roof over the top.
The dad who built the structure notes that he actually started it on his porch in the winter, and then had to move it over to the side once the ground finally softened enough to settle the garage in the soil.
From there, he added on some nice, bright walls painted white.
He even shingled the roof and threw in some cornices for good measure, spiffing the whole place up from a plywood shack to a proper hideout any kid would be excited to lay claim to.
All said and done, it comes out as a very solid structure, with plain white walls, a slanted roof that will help shed rain and prevent rot, and a pair of plywood doors that latch shut to keep out tiny car thieves, and, probably, raccoons.
Inside, it's no less impressive!
The ramp guides right up into the body of the little garage, leading into a perfect spot to park a pair of awesome vehicles just perfect for those of us with a need for speed, but not old enough to have a driver's license yet.
Stowed inside are the pride and joy of this young tot's life: two totally awesome cars!
One's a shiny white tractor-tailer made for hauling imaginary bails of hay and plowing make-believe acreage, and the other is a shiny little battery-powered convertible.
Talk about hot wheels!
The rest of the room is taken up by all sorts of stuff perfectly suited to the space.
Shelves for smaller cars and vehicles line the walls, and the back of the room is set up with a toolbox full of plastic versions of the same stuff Dad probably has in his garage.
Best of all, the setup even comes with a miniature gas pump, so this little tyke never has to worry about running on empty!
