To most women, stories of surprise pregnancies are pretty terrifying. The idea of being totally unprepared to raise a little baby — no diapers or clothes, no money saved, and no health precautions taken — could scare the daylights out of anyone.
Shockingly, these stories — like that of the Massachusetts woman who thought she just had a tummy ache — are not all that uncommon.
But Kirsty Parker's story, as you're about to learn, is very different.
Kirsty, a 25-year-old mother from Devon, England, had no idea she was pregnant when she gave birth to her daughter, Ruby. Aside from some weight gain and moodiness, the young mother of five had no idea she would soon give birth to a little girl — on the toilet no less!
But Kirsty's story doesn't end there.
You see, Ruby was not this family's first surprise birth, and far from their first baby to be born in a bathroom! I gasped when I read about her other children…

Little Ruby was born prematurely last week in the Parker family bathroom. Mom Kirsty was shocked to find the three pound babe squalling in the toilet bowl.
“I had started to get a bit of pain just beforehand but did not think anything of it," said Kirsty. "I looked down the toilet there was Ruby." [sic]

Her partner, Lee, said they were both shocked to be the parents of premature Ruby, but said it "was meant to be." Thankfully, Ruby is doing very well.
“She is a little fighter," said Kirsty. "There are no major problems and she is off the oxygen."

But Ruby was not the family's first surprise birth! Nine months before Ruby's birth, little Amber's arrival shocked the family. Coincidentally, Amber was also born in the family's toilet!
Although Kirsty did know she was expecting Amber, her birth was a shock; Kirsty had no idea she was in labor.

Kirsty joked, "Who needs to go to hospital to give birth?" Her partner Lee replied, "I thought she was joking. It was a complete shock.”

But there's one more twist to this story! Of Kirsty's five children, only two of them have not been born in a bathroom! Kirsty's oldest daughter, Crystal, was born on the floor of her mother's bathroom.

“All my previous births have been in a bathroom. That is obviously just where I like to have my children," laughed Kirsty.
