Lorraine made her son, Tyler, a big promise. The mother told him that if he got straight A's, she would buy him any toy he wanted — now that is music to any young kid's ears.
The proud mother surprised her son by taking him to a toy store. She let him pick out whatever he wanted. When Tyler picked out a brand new LEGO set, the mother didn't realize until she got to the register that she couldn't afford it.
Every parent wants to give their kid everything, especially as a reward for hard work, but not every parent can afford to. The familiar scenario was created by What Would You Do?
Lorraine and Tyler are actors, but the situation they demonstrated was very real. The shoppers at the store had no idea the mother and son were actors.
When Lorraine was at the register, her son despondently asked why he couldn't have the toy. The mother was happy to put it back until she was interrupted.
"Mom, that means I can't get the toy?" Tyler asks.
That's when a father of three and serviceman, Kevin, interrupted. He saw the look on Tyler's face and knew. He waltzed right up to the cash register, took out his card, and insisted.
Kevin didn't even ask how much the toy costed. That's when the host ambushed him and let him know it was all a setup. Others had refused to help Lorraine because they believed she was a scammer, but Kevin believed that 9 out of 10 times, you're helping someone in need. If one time, you help someone insincere, then 9 out of 10 times you made a difference in someone's life.
