Kate was overjoyed when she learned she was pregnant with twins — but that feeling quickly vanished when the doctor told her they were Monoamniotic, or "MoMo," and were unlikely to survive. This rare condition means the twins have no dividing membrane, so their umbilical cords wrap around each other as the fetuses grow.
In a touching blog on the Miracle Babies website, Kate explained how excited she and her family were to meet these little angels; MoMo's who survive are known to be the closest of twins because of how entwined they are inside the womb.
After five traumatic weeks in the hospital, Kate and her husband welcomed the arrival of her baby girls. As the umbilical cords were examined, the doctors were speechless. As it turned out, the entanglement was more severe than previously thought, with a bonafide knot at one point. Miraculously, they were delivered just in time. Fascinating pictures of the plaited cord, which Kate posted to Facebook, are now going viral.
Today, Harper and Cleo are happy, healthy, and the best of friends. Kate wishes for her story to inspire hope in other moms. Check out their journey below, and please SHARE this with your friends on Facebook!

Kate was thrilled to be pregnant again, this time with twins — but her elation quickly vanished when the doctor said the babies were Monoamniotic identical twins. This is a rare condition that meant the babies' umbilical cords are entangled. "MoMo" twins are given a 50-70% chance of surviving the cord entanglement they create by twisting and turning around one another.

Kate was admitted to the hospital at 28 weeks for daily scans. Her planned cesarean section took place after 32 weeks. In a touching blog on the Miracle Babies website, Kate described her epic journey in which she was frightened for her babies, but refused to succumb to the doctors' warnings that she'd likely suffer a miscarriage.

Kate says the pregnancy put her marriage to the ultimate test, along with her and her husband's ability to look beyond and into the future. The pregnancy itself included a caesarean, long-term hospital stay, plus NICU and SCN for her premature babies… But in the end, two beautiful girls were born into the world despite the odds against them.
Doctors were stunned when they saw the entwined umbilical cords. The girls had survived horrific entanglement, with a true knot at one point. Kate delivered them just in time. She posted this photo on Facebook, and it's now going viral.

Today, Harper and Cleo are nearly 8. They're inseparable, as they do everything together and are the best of friends. "They were truly our miracle MoMo's," she says.
