Swinging the day away on a porch swing is one of summertime's ultimate luxuries.
The sublime serenity of porch swinging recently inspired Instructables DIY-er ellason1's latest project.
She wanted to hang a bird feeder in her outdoor space for quite some time, but could never fully commit to a feeder design. Moreover, this gal was far too creative to simply pop into a store and pick up a ready-made option.
One day, swinging on her human-sized porch swing, inspiration struck. She decided to build her own bird feeder and model its design after a quintessential porch swing.
Upcycling scrap wood for her design, this DIY-er created an adorable mini porch swing bird feeder, which birds in her community are already flocking towards. Now she and the nearby birds can swing their summer days away together.

Swinging on a porch swing is a wonderful way to relax and reflect.
Instructables user ellason1's latest project recently drew major inspiration from her backyard's porch swing.
While enjoying her own swing one day, a cute idea popped into this DIY-er's head. What if she designed and built a mini porch swing, meant for birds in her community to enjoy and filled it with bird seeds?
Just like that, her DIY mini porch swing bird feeder project began taking shape.
This DIY-er started construction on her mini porch swing bird feeder by assembling its frame.
She built the back of her swing out of heavy duty paint stirrers and adhered her swing's wood frame together with waterproof glue.
To ensure the feeder's structure set correctly, this DIY-er kept the whole swing seat clamped together as the glue dried.
This DIY-er added a few smaller scrap pieces of wood to the swing as little arm rests.
She even curved their ends a bit for additional embellishment.
Once the swing's frame was set, this DIY-er turned her attention to the base of the bird feeder's seat.
She glued and stapled a piece of scrap wood to the swing's base.
This DIY-er also recommended drilling a few holes into the swing's seat for improved drainage.
To tie the whole piece together, this DIY-er gave her mini porch swing bird feeder a coat of bright white paint.
She thought the white paint would make a perfect backdrop, designed to showcase her bird visitors' colorful feathers.
She added two small screw eyes into each arm rest, and strung through green twine.
She added seeds into the seat and hung up her adorable creation.
With a few simple materials and inspired creativity, this DIY-er built a cute little bird feeder for all of her neighborhood pals to enjoy.
