Pennies and sheds are two everyday items that don’t get any respect. A penny is the least-valued U.S. coin and, in the realm of buildings, a shed is usually just something you'd hide behind your house.
Yet, you can make treasured belongings with both.
For instance, with just a little patience, time, and skill, you can take pennies and make a gorgeous backsplash that glistens with as much copper glory as the Statue of Liberty.
Sheds shouldn’t get the creative shaft, either. People have creatively converted them into home offices, guesthouses, painting studios, greenhouses, summer living rooms, and even backyard bars.
So, with this in mind, would you like a penny for my thoughts? Being that you can make fabulous things out of these two under-appreciated objects, couldn’t you combine the two and make something phenomenal?
You can, indeed.
Reddit user American_Standard has figured out just how to do that. He took an old, dusty shed and 5,500 pennies and combined them together to make a little bit of magic…

This was his shed. It was 19.5' x 11.5' and just a finished shell.
He added drywall, electrical outlets, and switches.
Next he covered the walls and ceiling with two coats of paint.
He then made the floor look fancy with a 20' x 12' vinyl sheet of light wood plank pattern. It costs him about $220 for the vinyl and glue. “And I think it came out great,” he said.
A frame was created.
Then wood panels filled in the shell of a bar.
The bar was then stained.
Then he busted out the pennies. Initially he only started with 3,000, or $30 worth.
But it wasn’t enough. He needed 2,500 more to fulfill his vision.
The pennies were soaked in a solution of white vinegar and salt for a few minutes. The acidity eats away any gunk on them, making them quite the pretty pennies.
If you let the pennies dry in the open air after you soak them, however, they begin to develop a beautiful green oxidation.
Once all the pennies were dry, he began gluing them to his bar top.
He used the different colored pennies to make a unique pattern.
It took him three friends and a pack of beer to complete the design in a couple of hours.
He then covered the pennies with clear resin, which dried like glass.
He then added a kegerator and shoehorned it under the bar. He also added a few taps.
The end result is a beautiful shed bar — right in his backyard!
