When I'm shopping around — whether for clothing, furniture, or even living spaces — my eye is always drawn to the most beautiful, and often most colorful, choices.
But pleasing aesthetics aren't my only criteria: usefulness and functionality are just as important. After all, what good is a cute bag or outfit if it's totally impractical?
That's why I instantly fell in love when I saw this tiny house. The perfect combination of beauty and design, this colorful home is a true testament to the genius of the tiny house movement.
Sure, I've seen many amazing tiny homes, but this is definitely one of the most eye-catching and versatile designs I've ever seen.

In Lake Forest, IL, designers Frank Henderson and Paul Schultz have designed a truly dazzling house. Dubbed the "Toybox Tiny home," this 140-square-foot house was designed to capture a whimsical concept: "A home is a place of peace, simplicity, happiness and recreation."
Energy and environmentally friendly, the Toybox features a thermoplastic roof, corrugated fiberglass siding, and a natural cedar foundation.
Inside, the home was designed to be both extremely beautiful and totally functional. The living room, measuring just 7'x9', is a versatile space that takes many forms.
With the help of its movable cubes, the living room can also function as a dining room or additional sleeping quarters. The wall-mounted squares can also move to provide a headboard for snoozing guests.
The cube themselves each supply additional storage, allowing the home the greatest amount of use and comfort.
To the right of the living room, the kitchen showcases the home's brilliant balance of aesthetics and functionality. Glowing cedar, shining stainless steel, and heated floors blend to create a stunning cooking experience.
Within the warm cedar walls are hidden panels, which slide open to reveal many cabinets and cubbies.
Beneath the counters, a refrigerator, freezer, and toaster oven are tucked away. Above, an induction cooktop, toaster, and cylindrical stainless steel sink allow for full cooking possibilities.
Built-in storage cubes allow for a colorful dry goods pantry, while also providing additional shelf space — and of course a view of the beautiful outside world.
Against the wall, a flattened sliver of gorgeous wood quickly becomes a cozy dining nook.
It also doubles as an efficient work desk or craft station.
Located beyond the kitchen, through a camouflaged cedar door, the 4'x5' bathroom is another wonder of design. A standard toilet, though not pictured, sits below the picture window.
Beside it, the sink doubles as a shower. Beyond the curtain sits a 2'x4' closet, which holds the 20-gallon water heater and a storage space for clothes and toiletries.
Back outside, a ship ladder unfolds to lead travelers to the cozy 6'x7' sleeping loft.
Light pours in through the three picture windows, illuminating the warm, multi-colored wood floor. The space features ample room for a king sized bed, and a switch allows sleepers to turn off all house lights without leaving the loft.
