While I have seen my fair share of DIY projects, I am still constantly impressed by the incredibly creative ideas that DIY-ers are able to come up with.
One of my favorite types of DIY projects involves upcycling old, useless materials into something new and amazing, like with these brilliant ladder upcycles.
And when I spotted what this DIY-er did to totally transform his old barn, I was absolutely floored.
I found this ambitious DIY undertaking from Imgur user jdchamber01, who cleverly stripped the decrepit wooden floorboards from his barn and converted them into one of the most stunning barn doors I have ever seen.
In fact, this project made me jealous enough to want a barn of my very own!

While this DIY-er was fortunate enough to have a cool old barn in his backyard, he decided that it could definitely use an overhaul. He writes, 'It was definitely a cool barn, but it just couldn't really be used for much more than storage.'
He decided that he wanted to give the interior AND the exterior a makeover, including a new set of barn doors. He writes, 'The barn had some really cool old wood boards for the floor that had to be torn up, since it was getting a much more practical concrete floor. I thought these boards would work great for my doors.'
Before he could focus on his new doors, he got the interior into tip-top shape, pouring concrete to fill in where the old floor boards used to be.
With the floor in place, he was able to use the interior as a workshop as he worked on the exterior and his new upcycled barn doors.
He even upcycled the wood that he used to panel the outside of the barn. He writes, 'This wood came from upstairs floor boards. Not quite as cool as the thick stuff the cows walked on downstairs [that] I'm using for the doors, but still has character.'
He picked out the most usable former floorboards to begin construction on the barn doors.
After years of being underneath cows from the previous owner's dairy farm, the boards weren't in the best of shape so he 'gave them a good pressure washing.'
This DIY-er cut, pegged, and glued the boards together, forming two separate doors.
He used stunning metal and studs to add an incredible rustic touch to both the front and back of the doors. He writes, 'I kinda liked the subtle 'X' design on the front left by the carriage bolt heads.'
He created a four-panel window frame for each of the doors out of the same beautiful metal.
For the door handles, he decided to be extra-creative. Rather than simply use a handle from the store, he decided to create his own. He writes that he started by 'heating up the end here, and first flaring it, and then curving it into a bend.'
He then twisted the heated metal so that the handle would have a cool, unique look. 'This step always makes me anxious because it's very easy to ruin it during this step, which I have done a couple times.'
The barn door handle results were truly amazing. 'I was really happy with how it turned out! It works great.'
With the doors fully constructed, it was time to install them. This involved screwing them to the walls with hinges, as well as installing a floor lock screwed right into the concrete.
And when all was said and done, the interior was absolutely ready to be a cool workshop, but also beautiful enough to house parties or even weddings.
And the upcycled doors were the brilliant finishing touch. What started as a pile of old floorboards has truly been transformed by this clever and talented DIY-er.
This old dairy barn is hardly recognizable from its original state. The months of work that this DIY-er put into this barn transformation is absolutely remarkable.
