Summer is here, and the best way to beat the heat is lounging in the pool while enjoying a cold drink. For me, I know that when I am relaxing and having a lazy day, the only thing that'll get me out of the pool is having to get out of the water to grab a drink. But I recently discovered a genius solution to this "problem."
Now, you can lounge in the pool for the whole day with an easy DIY pool noodle floating cooler. And to make it, all you’ll need is a plastic container, a pool noodle, and a bit of string. It takes only 10 minutes to assemble, and at your next outdoor bash, you won't have to keep getting out of the pool for drinks. Instead, the floating cooler will make drinks within your reach. This simple project will be a lifesaver on those lazy, summer days.
This handmade invention might be one of the most brilliant ideas I’ve ever seen — and it is so practical, too.
Watch the video tutorial to see just how easy this pool noodle floating drink cooler is to make at home.
What You Need:
- Medium-size plastic container
- Pool noodle (Make sure you're getting one that is hollow in the center.)
- Waterproof nylon rope
Instructions:
- Cut the pool noodle into four sections: two short and two long pieces. They should be a little smaller than the sides of the plastic container.
- Take your rope and pull it through the noodle pieces, forming a rectangle. Tie end.
- Fit the noodle around the plastic container, so it's snug.
Once you're done, grab a few bags of ice and your favorite beverages, and head to your pool. When you're ready, drop the container into the water and fill the cooler. (If this is your first time using it, you may want to experiment with how much it can hold before you drop it in the pool.) Now you can enjoy your pool and your cold beverage at the same time.
Who knew an old pool noodle float could be used in other creative and fun ways? Summer is even better now that I can chill out in the pool with a delicious drink floating by my side. This floating cooler is sure to be a hit at your next pool party or summer gathering.
When you're done for the day, dump the melted ice, throw on the lid, and go inside. Store it until your next pool day.
