One of my favorite parts of DIY transformations are comparing the before pictures to the after pictures.
Some people are so clever and talented that their after pictures look absolutely incredible, like in this epic DIY backyard transformation. These are the kinds of DIY projects that I would find extremely daunting to tackle myself, but that seriously impress me every time I see them.
So when I spotted how one brilliant DIY dad completely overhauled his front yard to create one of the most impressive results I've ever seen, I knew I had to share it.
I found this cool project on Imgur from user djhoen, where he takes his old, cracked concrete front steps and completely transforms his entire front yard into a stunning staircase, garden, and walkway.

This DIY dad decided that he was sick and tired of his boring, cracked concrete front stairs. He wanted to completely overhaul his steps AND his front yard.

He started with one of the most difficult steps first: getting rid of the old stairs. He writes on Imgur, "My neighbors saw me doing this and thought I was mentally unstable. Jack-hammering concrete isn't too hard unless it is really thick... like stairs."

After hours and hours of chipping away at the stairs, he was finally able to move on to the next step: creating channels along the future walkway to bury electric cables for the walkway lights.

He then used beautiful brick to build up a new garden wall. He writes, "The hardest part is getting that first level of bricks level. After that it is pretty easy."

He installed pillars for the future light posts and added levels of bricks to start forming the new stairs and pathway.

He made quite a bit of progress on the pathway as he worked his way from his front door to the edge of his front yard.

At one point during the process, his little girl came out to be his helper. "She put on her play glasses and came out and said, 'I'm ready to work dad! I got my safety glasses and everything!' "

He added lovely cap stones on top of the bricks that "will have plants and flowers."

He smoothed down the dirt surfaces on each of the different levels and topped with gravel. He writes, "I used 4-5 inches of crushed gravel."

It was then time to start laying the paving stones in place on top of the gravel. Because this is a bit like a puzzle, it can take a very long time to complete. He writes, "The curves look nice but every single edge requires a cut which is a big pain."

He laid the paving bricks all the way down the steps. As for the plant boxes, he writes, "My wife did all of the planting."

With the flowers and paving stones all in places, and the lights installed, his transformed front yard was complete!

Looking at the after pictures, it is hard to imagine just how bare and simple the front of the house used to look.

The incredible end result is enough to impress any true DIY lover.

This amazing front yard transformation truly elevated the front of this DIYer's home from boring to stunning.
