The Oscar buzz has begun, and my friends and I have already started planning a viewing party for the 88th Academy Awards ceremony, which takes place on February 28, 2016. Every year, we throw the ultimate red carpet affair to celebrate Hollywood's biggest night.
Do you remember how over-the-top amazing last year's Oscars were? This year's awards show should be another one for the books because The Revenant, which stars Leonardo DiCaprio, received the most nominations with 12 total, while Mad Max: Fury Road comes in second with 10 Oscar nods!
Now, while I'm usually cooking up some tasty treats in preparation for the big show, I'm in charge of adding some DIY glam to our Oscar party this year. After getting a little inspiration online, I decided I'd get my guests in the spirit of the evening with DIY glitter gold serving trays.
Once I saw the finished product, I immediately knew how perfect they'd be for Oscar night — or any celebration! If you're hosting a soireé, you'll want to add this to your to-do list especially after you see how simple they are to make.
1. Gather your supplies.
What you need:
2. Using painter’s tape, mark off the area of the tray you do not want covered in glitter.
3. Paint Mod Podge onto tray to cover the non-taped areas.
4. Sprinkle glitter and cover all areas covered in glue.
5. Pour off excess glitter. Let the tray dry.
6. Carefully remove tape.
The finished product is such an easy way to jazz up a party, especially when surrounded by glamorous decorations and mini Hollywood Award statues.
7. Fill the glittery trays up with drinks, appetizers, sweets — or whatever your heart desires!
I'd like to thank the Academy for an excuse to throw a party with my best friends!
