1. Gather Your Materials
You'll be able to get everything you need from hardware and craft stores.
We recommend pressing your leaves for about a week in a thick book before starting this craft, as this will ensure that they're completely flat.
2. Place Your Leaf On The Tile
For this, we used glittery Mod Podge, but any kind will do.
Brush an even coat of the Mod Podge all over your leaf and tile, being sure to cover it entirely.
You may want to hold it in place for a minute to make sure it really sticks.
3. Coat With Mod Podge
When you're sure your leaf is flat, go ahead and brush on another layer of Mod Podge to seal it in.
Brush gently, so as not to disturb the leaf.
Let dry.
4. Let It Dry
Mod Podge Dries clear, so don't worry about the white layer.
5. Give It A Second Coat
Once the first layer is dry, you'll want to paint on another one. This will give you an added layer of protection.
6. Make More
Depending on the amount of tiles you have, you can make as many of these as you like.
Feel free to arrange your leaves in different ways, too. We opted for a classic, centered look, but you can experiment with different placements.
7. Admire Your Work
For this project, we opted for tiles with a stone-like texture to enhance the natural quality of the leaves.
We also recommend going with a tile that isn't super-smooth or glossy, as the Mod Podge will adhere better to something with a rougher surface.
8. Enjoy!
Once they've fully dried, you can start using them! Not only are they functional, but they're also beautiful.
Bonus: They Also Double As Art!
If you find you like your finished products too much to cover them with mugs, you can also use them as a unique art piece!
Using leaves gives you some fun and seasonal decor, and it's perfect for those chilly afternoons curled up with a mug and a good book.
