Home decoration is a very personal process, that definitely depends on the home owner's overall aesthetic.
Like many others, I am personally drawn to DIY home additions, since they are creations that are truly one-of-a-kind. And when it comes to furnishing the living room itself, I've seen everything from handmade bookshelves to this unbelievable wine bottle lamp.
But this latest project that I found from Imgur user Scalamere may just take the cake.
This DIY-er not only created a unique rainbow coffee table, but he did it using one of the most unexpected materials possible: skateboards!
He collected dozens of skateboards, cut them down, and stacked them to create a colorful centerpiece to his living room. And though skateboards may have been his table's inspiration, you'd never know they were the secret source material just by looking at it.

After removing grip tape and sanding them quite well, this Imgur user started by running dozens of old skateboards through his band saw, cutting them into two-inch stips.
He glued the boards together in a color pattern and combination that looked best to him.
After making longer strips of this rainbow design, he began attaching them together to create one larger block.
This DIY-er writes on Imgur, "Once the glue dried, we squared it all up and it really started to look good."
He then began an hours-long sanding process.
He added a wood frame to the outside of the entire table, and coated the whole thing in stain to really help bring out the colors.
After adding some simple legs, his rainbow coffee table creation was complete!
The color really popped in his living room. And no one would ever be able to tell that this one-of-a-kind table was actually constructed from skateboards!
When he wanted a unique addition to his home, this Imgur user thought way outside the box to create a table unlike any other!
