I am always looking to try new DIY projects around the house.
One of my favorite things to do is to take something old and upcycle it, creating something cool and new like this transformed sewing table. My house is full of homemade projects, and I will find any excuse to break out my tools and build something. So naturally when I saw this amazing DIY upcycle project, I was floored.
On her blog Oh Everything Handmade, Bettina creates one of the most impressive homemade chalkboards I've ever seen. Bettina describes herself on her blog as "a stay at home mom by day, aspiring jewelry metalsmith/designer, crafter, DIYer and blogger by night." The way she is able to transform a useless old window frame into a cool, rustic window frame chalkboard is extremely impressive.
And her easy-to-follow steps and photographs make this upcycle look very simple. I will definitely be adding this to my list of future DIY projects!

Bettina was able to transform this plain piece of wood and an old window frame into an amazing addition to her home!

She began by cutting the wood into three panels and ensuring that it fit the window frame perfectly.

She applied 2–3 coats of chalkboard paint to the front side of the wood panels and let it dry.

With the paint dry, Bettina used all-purpose glue, which can be purchased at any hardware store, to adhere the wood panels to the window frame.

Once the panels were in place, Bettina allowed everything to dry for a full 24 hours.

Once the paint and glue were completely dry, Bettina used nails to attach a thick rope to the top of the frame for hanging.

She found a stud in the wall and used anchor screws and a drill to attach a hook to the wall.

Once the hook was in place, Bettina was ready to hang her chalkboard window frame.

She even decided to add her own flair to the frame by adding her own calligraphy.

She used the first two panels for lists and put a beautiful quote on the third, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart."

Bettina's rustic DIY window frame chalkboard is just one of many cool projects she shares on her blog that will spruce up any home!
