I love tackling easy DIY projects to spruce up my home.
I am always on the lookout for something new to make. Fortunately, I have found myself a project that involves one of my other loves: wine. I've combined my affinity for wine and DIY before with these simple chalkboard-painted wine glasses. But this project really has got me excited.
I found this on A Beautiful Mess, where Emma Chapman creates a bulletin board for her room using leftover wine corks. What a brilliant DIY idea!
Most bulletin boards are already made of cork, so why not make my own? Just like Emma, I don't have over 100 wine corks laying around, but luckily they sell them online for very little. This project is so fast and inexpensive, I'll have it hanging on my wall in no time. A wine cork bulletin board will be a great rustic addition to my house.

Emma writes that, "We drink and use wine in cooking at our house pretty often, so I've hoarded a fairly decent collection of corks over the past few years. And this...led me to start scheming about making a bulletin board out of wine corks."
Emma decided to keep it simple by buying a 12 inch by 12 inch shadow box from a craft store.
She used heavy duty glue to keep the corks in place. In total, she needed 170 to fill the entire shadow box!
Emma highly recommends using a very strong glue. "I plan to push and pull tacks from these corks, so I want them to stay in place!"
She writes, "Once I had glued in all the corks, I decided to paint a few of the ends different colors."
"I like the overall rustic look, but the deep red/purple ends that a few of the corks had (from wine) didn't really match the aesthetic of my desk area. So I just brushed on a few different colors of craft paint." Emma's project looks so great and really took no time at all!
"Although I could have easily just bought a small bulletin board for my desk area, I love the personality and color that this one brings to my space." What a perfect way to stay organized AND add a little flair to your home!
