There are so many organic elements on the beach that make great decorative materials. Between the clear, soft sand and the seashells, going to the beach can also double as going to the craft store depending on the DIY project.
But another great element of the beach that makes for a great mantle ornament is driftwood.
Having been washed around by the sea, driftwood has a wavy, smooth almost shell-like look, distinguishing it from other types of lumber. This makes it ideal for adding to jars mounting somewhere in your home or even making amazing furniture.
Crafter Tracy Jo showcased her collection of driftwood in a simple, yet stunning, way by sticking it to various nautical shapes.
The instructions couldn't be easier and the result is a cool, nautical-themed ornament that you can place anywhere in your home.

Tracy Jo started by cutting a piece of board into the shape of an anchor.
She then soaked it in vinegar overnight and let it dry.
After that, a layer of gray paint followed by a thin layer of brown paint were added.
Then, a piece of twine was added to the top for hanging purposes.
Pieces of the driftwood were placed along the anchor and then glued down once they where in a satisfactory pattern.
Tracy Jo also placed shells among the driftwood to strengthen the beachy vibe.
Once the glue was set, the ornaments were complete!
They can be mounted, hung on a wall, or leaned carefully onto your mantle.
The driftwood decorations don't have to be limited to anchor shapes. They can also be made into fish or any other shape that you fancy.
The sweet, simple designs are a perfect project for beachgoers who love bringing a little bit of the beach home with them every time they go!
