Often times, try as we might to impose our control, nature wreaks its own unwarranted havoc.
When an intense ice storm littered an Instructables user's yard with all sorts of different fallen tree branches this past winter, he decided to transform nature's mess into his new masterpiece.
This crafty builder collected branches of different sizes and shaped from all across his yard, and crafted them into a decorative bench.
After debarking, arranging, and rearranging his branches into place, he developed a beautiful, one-of-a-kind design, filled with gorgeous natural character.
He then positioned his new bench into place in his backyard. In the future, he hopes all sorts of plants and flowers climb up the bench's limbs, overtaking it completely. This way, the bench will become a permanent fixture in his backyard's landscaping.
Out of destruction, this builder created a lovely, upcycled bench he'll surely enjoy for years to come.

Last winter, one Instructables user stepped out into his yard after a catastrophic ice storm, and found a shocking sight.
The storm had ripped innumerable branches, big and small, from his property's trees, and there they were, littered all over the ground.
After burning branch after branch for firewood, he decided to shift course.
This DIY-er decided to upcycle the rest of these fallen branches into a fabulous new garden bench.
To set his bench project in motion, this builder began debarking his wooden branches.
Sometimes, with its bark attached, a branch can appear thicker than it truly is. So, as this builder scraped each of his branches' surfaces clean of bark, he was able to properly gauge their true size, and determine where they'd live in his design.
He then whittled the ends of his branches, so they'd properly join together throughout his build.
This DIY-er then began assembling his bench, starting with its seat.
He arranged and rearranged his thickest branches into formation, striving for the sturdiest configuration.
Once he finalized his ideal arrangement, he cut his branches to size, labeled their position within the design, and secured them all into place.
This builder then attached his bench's legs to its seat.
He held the entire structure together with a strap clamp while the adjoining glue dried.
With its base structure set, this builder then turned his attention to the bench's back.
He started with one beautifully bent backrest piece, and then filled in the rest of the structure's negative space with smaller branches.
After a quick stain, this upcycler's bench was finally complete.
He nestled his lovely new tree branch bench right into the heart of his backyard.
This builder hopes that over time, the rest of his land's vegetation begins growing up and over his bench, further cementing its permanence in the garden.
Faced with a yard full of branches, this DIY-er created an original bench, beautifully suited to his garden's look and feel.
