In the video below, nail artist Megan Toth teaches us an unconventional yet extremely intriguing polish trick, courtesy of Howcast.
To achieve those gorgeous, intricate nail designs we love so much, it's important to create the thinnest and straightest lines possible. However, nail kits often come with synthetic brushes with bristles that don't bend over the natural curve of the nail. To avoid sloppy, stiff lines, Megan prefers using her own hair as liner brushes, as it lays down on the nail better and gives a cleaner line. Megan is the first to admit that this technique may sound strange at first, but she promises it actually works and is a technique used by many other nail artists!
Instead of using synthetic design brushes, she suggests snipping a small strand of hair to the desired width of the line you want. Then, tape the hair to the end of your brush and cut the length even. "When you use your own hair…it just hugs the nail a bit better so you get more of this even line that makes a really pretty, precise line," she says.
