Boring Kitchen Gets An Adorable Vintage Makeover

When I think of a retro diner, I think of pristine tile floors, fun swivel chairs, and pops of pastel color. It's hard not to smile when you picture sitting in one of the puffy leather booths, sipping a milkshake, and waiting for your song to play on the jukebox.

Thanks to Larry Lambert of Chi Renovation and Design, one Chicago couple will have this rockin' retro aesthetic on their minds every single day in their home. The homeowners recruited Lambert to turn their bland kitchen into something special — like what this husband did for his wife while she was away.

And he did not disappoint! The space is now a perfect old-fashioned little jewel box, complete with beautiful custom cabinets and an old-school fridge.

So the next time you're daydreaming about redoing a room in your home, remember that you don't have to turn to the newest, modern models to get your dream remodel.

Instead, you can think backward ways to fill your home with some of these amazing nostalgic novelties.

Their dreams for the new kitchen included green cabinets and a retro design — much more jazzy than their original kitchen, which lacked charm and pizazz.

But with a beautiful pastel color scheme, punctuated with black, white, and red, Lambert definitely delivered!

Positioned in a little nook in their home, the kitchen remodel created a more open feel for the space.

The original tile was replaced with a black and white octagonal tile and the black splash was covered in subway tiles, making it look brighter and cleaner.

A retrofitted fridge was installed and the crumbling cabinets were replaced with custom clear cupboards.

Other adorable period-appropriate accents included cushy swivel chairs and red appliances.

These homeowners definitely got their wish for a retro refuge.

Their sweet kitchen looks like a scene pulled out of the mid-century and you can't help but smile at its sweetness.
