Artist Emily Seilhamer knows how to turn the little things around her into works of art. Any mundane, disposable object can totally be transformed into something new and exciting: all it takes is a little time, patience, and dedication!
She wowed us with her perfect dress made out of Starburst wrappers, but wait until you check out her latest creation: a lampshade made entirely out of prescription pill bottles!
That's right! Those orange bottles you may have around your house can be used for something totally different than just carrying around medicine. With a few nifty tricks, Emily totally transformed an old, donated lamp into a beautiful treasure.
In the photos below, you can see exactly how she did it. It seems so simple that I think it would make a cool project to do with your own kids or grandkids!

Artist Emily Seilhamer is at it again with a whole new project: giving life to an old, donated lamp by using pill bottles.
Many of us use prescription medications for a variety of reasons. Chances are, we have a few of these empty bottles around the house. Emily had a friend who had a ton of these bottles, so she decided to use them in her project.
To start, the artist cuts off the entire bottom ring of the lamp shade.
Emily says, "To keep bottles from slipping, I used small, clear glass beads to secure them at desired heights."
She adds, "Fishing line was used to suspend bottles from metal ring after drilling small holes in the bottom of each…"
Halfway done, the lamp is starting to take shape!
They may just be regular pill bottles, but who knew that you could do so much with them?
When you put the "before" and "after" photos together, you can see how different the lamp looks!
