This DIY-er had some big plans for his chopping wood: to turn it into a rustic upcycled lamp!

He started his project by buying some old lamps at his local Goodwill. After deconstructing them, he had a socket, plug, wire and lamp harp — everything he needed electrically speaking.

Next, he drilled some holes in the stump to prepare it for the wiring. He made one down the center and another at a 'T' angle to thread everything through properly.

Our DIY-er inserted the lamp tube (that holds the lightbulb) into one of the drilled holes.

Next, it was time to pull the wiring through the stump.

This Instructables user then securely screwed the bulb into the base of the lamp.

Almost finished, our DIY-er added a healthy amount of shellac to the stump to give it a glossy sheen.

Finally, he added these funky lampshades, completing this outdoorsy upcycling project. This DIY-er isn't alone, though. There are so many ideas for wood lamp upcycles out there.
