One of the most enjoyable aspects of fall is getting into the spirit of the season and decorating. There are countless ideas for sprucing up the exterior of a home that truly embraces the warmth and comfort that comes at this time of year. However, it can be difficult to come up with ideas for inside the home.
Some people might not like the extra clutter that comes with decorating during the holidays, while others just don't see the sense in buying expensive decorations to hang up for just a few months — and both are valid points.
Which is where Mason jars — one of the easiest and cheapest ways to give your place that autumn feel — comes in. Mason jars embody that homey spirit that surrounds us toward the end of the year, especially when they are decked out in fall colors and filled with various types of flowers and trimmings that abound during the season. Furthermore, they are extremely affordable and readily available almost anywhere.
So, what are you waiting for? It's time to grab yourself a few Mason jars, some red, orange and brown paint, ribbons, yarn, and everything else that screams "fall" for you to get crafty.

What you'll need:
- 4 Mason jars
- Chalk paint
- Craft paint
- Sandpaper
- Flowers
- Stencils
- Sponge brush
How to make them:
- Paint all the Mason jars with one coat of chalk paint in old white using a sponge brush. For a distressed look, sandpaper parts of the jars once dry.
- Tape stencils to the jars and paint them with acrylic paint in a pretty metallic brown color.
- Add some flowers.

What you'll need:
- Mason jars
- Chalk paint
- Brush
- Sandpaper
- Burlap
- Lace trim
- Sunflowers and grass
- Hot glue gun
How to make them:
- Paint all the Mason jars with two coats of chalk paint in old white. For a distressed look, sand down parts of the jars with sandpaper, once dry.
- Add a strip of burlap around the middle of each one and secure with hot glue. Wrap a piece of trim on top of the burlap, use a drop of hot glue again in the back.
- Add the flowers and extras to the jars.

What you'll need:
- 3 glass jars: a tall cylinder-type jar, a regular sized mason jar, and a smaller jelly jar
- White burlap
- Twine
- Book pages
- Monogram stencil
- Craft paint
- Paint brush
- Hot glue gun
- Brown paper bag
How to make them:
- Cut a piece of burlap wide enough to cover the width of the jar and long enough to wrap around it. Then, cut two pieces of twine same length to use as trim.
- Stencil the monogram to the burlap using the craft paint and paint brush.
- When dry, add the twine trim using the hot glue gun. Once the trim pieces are attached, wrap the burlap monogram around the Mason jar and secure with hot glue.
- For the tall cylinder jar, cut another piece of burlap, this time quite a bit more narrow. Wrap around the jar and hot glue.
- Cut two pieces of twine long enough to wrap around the jar and hot glue them.
- To make a flower, cut a circle out of the book page, then cut the circle in a spiral pattern. Starting at the outside edge of the circle, begin rolling the paper towards the center.
- Continue rolling until you come to the small circle at the end of the spiral. Add a little hot glue to the circle and attach the rolled paper to it. The rolled paper should loosen a bit when you let go of it. Make three of these.
- One will go on the cylinder and the other two will go on the table surrounding the centerpiece. Hot glue the paper rose to the glass jar and, if you’d like, add a little twig.
- Cut one one more piece of burlap. Again, cut it wide enough to cover the jar & long enough to wrap around the jelly jar.
- Take the brown paper bag and cut out a leaf shape, then wrinkle it in your hand.
- Wrap the burlap around the jelly jar and secure with hot glue. Also hot glue your paper leaf to the jar, then cut a piece of twine to wrap around the jar and tie a little knot to secure it.

What you'll need:
- Mason jar
- Acrylic paint
- Paintbrush
- Sandpaper
- Flowers
How to make it:
- Paint candy corn pattern onto jar, using at least two coats.
- Paint polka dots on each section. For a distressed look, sand down parts of the jars using sandpaper, once dry.
- Add flowers.

What you'll need:
- Mason jars
- Chalk paint
- Paintbrush
- Sandpaper
- Hot glue gun
- Burlap
- Wheat Stems
- Scissors
- Twine
- Crate
How to make it:
- Paint all the Mason jars with one coat of chalk paint in old white using a sponge brush. For a distressed look, sand down parts of the jars with sandpaper, once dry.
- Paint the crate turquoise. Once dry, dry brush white chalk paint over the turquoise. “Dry brushing” involves rubbing the brush almost completely dry, and then painting it onto the crate over the turquoise.
To make the flowers:
- Cut a 2″ x 24″ strip of burlap.
- Cut a 2″ circle out of burlap.
- Fold strip in half.
- Fold it in half again.
- Roll one end of folded strip a couple times.
- Twist the remainder of the strip and wrap around the center roll.
- Keep twisting and wrapping until it is the desired size, then hot glue end of the strip.
- Generously apply hot glue to back of flower.
- Stick burlap circle onto glue to hold the flower together.
- Glue roses to jars and add some twine. Set up jars in crate and add wheat stems.

What you'll need:
- Hanging Mason jars (or Mason jars and wire handles)
- Acorn vase filler
- Popcorn kernels
- Mini pumpkin pods
- Votive candles and holders
How to make them:
- Place the candle holder inside the jar.
- Add your vase filler of choice. Slide the fillers into the jar around your votive candle holder. Use a piece of paper to create a funnel for the popcorn.
- Add the votive candles.

What you'll need:
- Mason jars
- Burlap
- Scissors
- Glue
- stencils
- Paint
- Ribbon
How to make them:
- Cut the burlap into squares to fit on Mason jars.
- Glue burlap to the section of the Mason jar.
- Paint stencils on to burlap.
- Decorate with ribbon.
