Most of us take some care to make sure that our homes stay safe and secure from thieves or intruders.
Whether you have a sophisticated security system or just a lock on the door, it's important to keep your valuables safe from people who might try to take advantage of you.
Even if someone were to break into your home, there is some comfort in knowing that they can't take the whole house with them… or can they?
Unfortunately for 70-year-old Sonia McColl, that's exactly what happened. Sonia was in the process of having her mobile home moved to another town when it mysteriously went missing.
As you can imagine, Sonia was completely shocked and disoriented to learn that her mobile home was gone.
If having your home broken into feels invasive, imagine having your entire place seemingly disappear into thin air.
Of course, her home didn't just evaporate: It was driven away by someone who had a plan.
Sonia McColl is a 70-year-old homeowner and victim of this heartless crime.
Sonia has been an active campaigner for park homeowner rights. A park home refers to a mobile home where the owner owns the structure, but not the land it resides on.
In fact, Sonia even received an Order of the British Empire (OBE), which is an order of chivalry for her political activity and public service.
According to Daily Mail, Sonia speculates that she was actually victimized for her involvement with campaign for park home owners' rights in the first place.
Sonia's home is 40-feet-long, which makes it a particularly difficult thing to steal, especially without anyone noticing.
The heist would have required careful planning and the use of a low loader trailer that could handle such a big job.
Needless to say, most people don't just have these vehicles lying around.
Sonia's home is worth £30,000 ($40,453) and is fully furnished, meaning the thieves took all her priced possessions with them.
Sonia was obviously not home at the time of the incident, but police know that it took place sometime between 6pm on Wednesday November 22, and 6am on Thursday the 23.
Sonia is currently staying with friends, but has no idea what she'll do next.
She has lost all of her belongings other than the curtains she purchased while she was away on the night her home was stolen.
Sonia was in the process of moving her home to a different park home location due to her receiving death threats as a result of her campaigning.
The home was being temporarily held in a haulage yard when it went missing.
Local police are urging anyone with information to come forward by emailing via [email protected] or by calling them.
