He Makes A Beautiful Space-Saving Bench That Converts Into A Picnic Table

I remember when I was a kid walking through a home décor or furniture store and fantasizing about all the cool stuff I would someday buy and put in my dream home.

Of course, these items included a dinosaur-themed kitchen, and lots and lots of glitter.

Thankfully, my tastes are now slightly more sophisticated but a new issue has arisen. One that I could have never for seen as a kid — sometimes your space is not big enough to house all your furnishing ambitions.

For instance, if you have a small kitchen, forget about owning a massive stainless cooking island shaped as a pterodactyl. It’s just not going to happen.

But if you’re smart, you can find or build convertible furniture that can be used in a variety of ways. Think of a sofa bed, but something that is way more sophisticated than a dinosaur-themed kitchen (covered in glitter).

Reddit user, MoreCleverThanEver, lives up to his screen name with a really cool and crafty build. He took some wood and made one piece that doubles as two pieces of furniture. And the end result is pretty stunning…

First he got his supplies. He used nine 2x4s, four bolts, spike nails, and some screws.

Next he found a plan and used it as a template so he knew what he was doing.

Then he cut his wood pieces according to the specifications on the plan and laid them out neatly. “There was very little scraps left over,” he said.

Once he had all his main pieces, he assembled some A-frames.

Next, he assembled a seat.

Once the seat was done, he put together a tabletop joint.

Then he attached all the pieces together with bolts to create a frame.

Once the frame was created, he was able to attach seat boards.

He drilled holes through the side of each bench from one board to the other and pounded the six-inch spike nails through for stability.

When he installed the tabletop, using the same procedure as the seats, he had to lean the whole thing over on its side.

The end result is a beautiful bench that converts into another piece of useful furniture.

It can shift into a picnic table as well! It’s an ideal piece of furniture for someone with a small deck or patio, or lives in a tight space.
