Here at LittleThings we see a lot of pallet DIY projects.
Some are simple but fascinating, like a smart little wine rack. While others highlight the ingenuity of using the materials that you have, like one soldier who happened upon a pallet while on deployment and flipped it into a patriotic coffee table with very few tools.
One thing all these DIY projects all have in common is that they take the shabby and splintering wood from a skid — a structure that is merely meant as a way to transport goods — and transform it into something beautiful. Many times, I am in awe that something with so much rustic charm came from throwaway lumber that I would have previously just regarded as garbage.
This project, by Imgur user RedheadFox, is probably one of the most impressive pallet DIYs I’ve ever seen. The end result can rival anything made by a professional and is the perfect summer backyard escape. And to think, it started with just a few pallets…
First they started with 43 raw pallets.
Next they sanded the pallets to give them smooth surface and to get rid of some dirt.
Once sanded, they covered each pallet in primer then painted each using an air-painting gun.
They then let the pallets sun dry.
As the pallets dried, they laid 13x19 feet of geotextile fabric down where they were going to place the pallets. It would act as a base to prevent grass from growing between the wood.
Then they started to neatly lay down each pallet.
A wall was soon built.
Then bench chairs were added to the project.
Next a cute, little picket fence was added as they inflated a pool.
They stabled the fence and back wall with some steel rods and wire.
They also planted some beautiful flowers.
Loungers were added for long relaxing days by the pool.
Vases full of flowers, baskets, and champagne was a must for their first day on this gorgeous deck.
It’s a lovely spot for relaxation, coffee with friends, or even for a luminous breakfast.
Personally, I think the end result is stunning. To think, they started with throwaway pallets.
It’s also perfect for girls' night cocktail parties. I’d love to have this in my backyard!
