A Couple Turns A Trashed School Bus Into A Rustic Modern Masterpiece!

The wheels on the bus go round and round. But what happens when those wheels stop rolling?

Unless someone snatches the bus up and gives it some love, it usually ends up in a junkyard. Its body is stripped for parts — and its glory days of transporting kids full of dreams to school is as dead as its engine.

Alyssa and Will were a young couple that were running on fumes. But they had dreams as bright as the yellow on a school bus. The couple that loved being outdoors hiking, skiing, and biking, wanted to quit their office jobs and start their own tech business online so they could have more time to pursue their outdoorsy passions.

So they quit their jobs and made a business happen, and they did, the realized that any of their dreams were possible.

So they decided to embark on another venture. Will approached Alyssa with the idea of “buying a school bus, converting it to a tiny house, and rolling around the country” enjoying the great outdoors.

Naturally Alyssa said yes and the couple, along with their rambunctious Bernese Mountain Dog named Hilde, embarked on one crazy adventure…

This is the 2001 GMC Bluebird school bus they originally bought.

It was a challenge to complete the build, but Alyssa and Will worked through their sweat and tears with a whole lot of heart.

They did most of the work themselves, spending many 12-hour (or more) days working on their home.

The entire project took them about five months to complete.

The total cost including the bus itself, maintenance and repairs, and materials came in at around $30k, which isn’t bad for this caliber of RV.
