When Imgur user Ostomesto recently dreamed up an inventive, new DIY project idea, he tapped into his upcycling abilities to bring his creation to life.
He wanted to build a hanging garden — a living wall on wheels — from which he could grow beautifully lush plants and flowers.
This DIY-er, however, only had a limited budget to fund his project, so he had to get creative.
When he saw a store giving away old shoe racks for free, he snatched one up and got to work creating his masterpiece.
His free shoe rack came adorned with all sorts of different clips and hangers.
This DIY-er detached these from the rack, to incorporate them into his planter box design.
He built his planter boxes out of wood, and outfitted each with a few shoe rack hangers.
This choice would allow him the ability to move his planters all over the hanging garden at will. Thus, his landscaping could remain consistently dynamic — always completely customizable.
This builder wanted the base of his shoe rack turned hanging garden to rest in a big rectangular planter bed.
So, he built this dream base, and drilled holes into its bottom, to allow for easy drainage.
This crafty artisan also attached a set of wheels to his planter's base, so that he could easily move the entire structure around his yard as needed.
After assembling his planter boxes, this gardener filled each with potting soil.
He then positioned his planters in place along his vertical garden's wired lattice.
This budding landscape artist even hung a few decorative pots from his wire rack — enhancing the entire structure's eclectic feel.
Thanks to a few helpful hints from his local plant nursery pals, this DIY-er began filling his planter boxes with all sorts of gorgeous plants and flowers.
Soaking up that warm summer sun, his plants have really come into their own.
He's even added a few non-plant-based decorative touches to his hanging garden, giving his landscaping even more unique pizzazz.
This DIY-er followed his instincts and transformed a simple shoe rack into a showstopping hanging garden he can now tend for years to come.
