Tiny Mobile Cabin Is Perfect For Your Next Camping Trip

For many, the idea of camping sounds fun, but the thought of sleeping in the woods without the safety of four walls is a bit daunting.

On the other hand, purchasing a full-size RV or camper can be very costly. The uprising in popularity of tiny homes is quickly turning into the solution for both of those problems.

Many people are opting for the craze of "glamping," or glamorous camping. You still get all the benefits of connecting with nature, while knowing you have a safe and dry place to sleep at night.

DIY-ers everywhere are challenging themselves to create tiny homes of their own to bring camping.

We found an incredible tiny home from Instructables user ganeshruskin that is travel-friendly and perfect for adventurers who prefer a roof over their heads when they travel off the grid.

The creation of tiny homes has introduced a whole new generation of people willing to spend more time in the great outdoors.

DIY-ers across the globe have begun focusing their creativity on building their own tiny homes, and the results are incredible.

This particular tiny home was created out of recycled materials from an old trailer.

These DIY-ers began by using the old trailer's frame.

After sanding down the rusty bits and painting over the frame, the sub floor and floor were installed.

The creators of this tiny home live near an old steam-powered sawmill, so they were able to use local, rough milled redwood for their flooring.

Next up came the frame.

At this point, they decided where the door and window frames would be placed.

Since the tiny home would only be 6-by-10 feet inside, they opted to keep the back wall windowless and install windows on the remaining three walls.

As you can see, the structure really began to take shape after the roofing was installed.

Because this home is meant to be used in the San Francisco Bay area, snow load wasn't an issue they needed to keep in mind while building.

A simple set of 1-by-3 rafters were used for the roof.

Anyone planning on spending the night in this tiny home is sure to stay toasty warm thanks to the recycled blue jean insulation used between the walls.

These DIY-ers opted for this type of insulation because fiberglass is more expensive and more dangerous to inhale in such a small space.

With the tiny home's shell complete, it was time to move on to windows and doors.

Using the old trailer's aluminum windows cut down on costs, although fitting them was a little bit tricky!

The handmade doors are truly a thing of beauty.

The DIY-ers decided since there were already so many straight lines featured on the structure, they would round out the door frame, creating a hobbit-like look.

There was a little bit of raw wood left over that the DIY-ers cut down themselves.

After some sanding and polishing, they used it as a door handle for an adorable, woodsy touch.

The roof required an overhang, about a foot all around, to allow water to drain off of the top.

Finally, the project was finished!

These DIY-ers estimate they spent about $1,500 in total on raw materials — compare that to the cost of a weeklong vacation in the mountains!
