Dad Transforms 4-Year-Old’s Drawing Of A Tractor Trailer Into An Actual Bunk Bed

If you've ever watched an episode of ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, you know just how cool themed children's bedrooms can be.

Every time I saw the incredible rooms they created for little kids, I dreamed of making my own children's bedrooms look like that some day.

Unfortunately, those types of projects take a lot of time, money, and creativity. They're not the easiest to pull off, especially if you don't have carpentry or crafting skills.

Luckily for one little boy, Brayden, Dad is more than talented enough to make any room he could dream of.

Brayden's dad, Dave Schaeffer, is a high school art teacher and artist. When Brayden was a baby, Dave made him a jungle-themed room, complete with a 3D tree and a beautiful mural.

As Brayden got older, he grew out of the animal theme. When he drew a sketch of his bed inspired by Transformers, his dad knew just what to do.

Dave explained to LittleThings:

The Optimus Prime bed was for my son’s fourth birthday.

He drew a plan, and I went out into the garage and started repurposing things to become a Transformer.

Using a variety of wood scraps, Dave built the base for the Transformer bed to look like a tractor trailer.

As he continued, the truck shape started to come together.

Dave does a lot of murals. He knew he wanted to paint some additional Transformers onto Brayden's wall to complete the room.

After sketching an outline, Dave started painting the wall.

Dave says that although he is an art teacher, he is still learning.

"I am working on mastering drawing, painting, murals, portraits, airbrushing and chainsaw carving," Dave explains on his website, Dave Schaeffer Art.

Using a simple wooden bunk bed frame, Dave turned the truck he built into a full-on Transformers bed.

It doesn't look like much yet, but if you scroll down, you'll see how incredible the final project is.

Not only is the bed extremely cool to a 4-year-old — it's something Brayden will be able to appreciate as he gets older, as well.

At the back of the truck, there is an opening to get into the bottom bunk and a ladder to the top bunk.

It's safe to say that Brayden loved the way his bed turned out.

Here he is, posing in front of his bed-truck and wearing his Optimus Prime mask.

Since posting pictures of the completed bedroom, Dave has received lots of requests to build more for other children. But he hasn't had a chance to do that yet.
