Upcycle An Old Sweater With This Genius DIY Trick

As temperatures start dropping and the weather finally takes a dive, you may be reaching for some of last year's sweaters. But if you're anything like me, you have a couple laying around in your closet that you haven't worn for a couple of seasons.

Donating them is always a great way to do something kind for your community while also giving those sweaters a second life. But if you just can't part with a couple, why not turn them into something new that you'll actually wear, like a DIY beanie, or give it a completely different look?

In the video below, YouTube beauty expert CutiePieMarzia shows us a neat way to spruce up that old sweater with an adorable open back design accented by sweet ribbon bows (you can order some here). The main thing to keep in mind is to make clean cuts and secure the edges to avoid frays.

In less than 20 minutes, you'll have turned an unused item into something cute that you can be proud to tell people you designed yourself. And better yet? This can be a no-sew project (for those of us who're less-than-savvy with a needle and thread) if you substitute a fabric glue for the needlework.
