Have you ever stared at a piece of art on the wall and wished you could step right into it?
Maybe it was abstract and full of color, or maybe it was an intricate cityscape that looked so real you could almost hear the hustle and bustle as people in it went about their day.
Usually, I'd say stepping inside a painting is something you can only do with the assistance of Mary Poppins. But a new listing on travel accommodation website Airbnb has me second-guessing myself.
Airbnb is known for offering unique places to stay — like this house that looks like a big mound of dirt — and now it's taking things even further with a room that'll make you feel like you're living in a van Gogh painting.
Scroll through below to see incredible pictures of this one-of-a-kind room, and learn how you can stay there for the price of a couple of lattes!
This room, located in Chicago, is listed on Airbnb simply as "Van Gogh's Bedroom."
When you first look at it, it's hard to know whether you're looking at a real room or a painting of a room!
The room, created by the Art Institute of Chicago, is a full-size replica of van Gogh’s painting The Bedroom.
The top image is the room for rent, while the bottom is van Gogh's original painting.
Every detail from the painting is represented in the real room, right down to the streaks on the wall and the strange alignment that makes the painting feel topsy-turvy.
According to This Is Colossal: "The installation was built to celebrate the exhibition 'Van Gogh’s Bedrooms,' a show which centers around three paintings of his domestic space he created from 1888 to 1889."
"The first of the three paintings was produced shortly after moving into his 'Yellow House' in Arles, France, yet suffered water damage soon after its completion. Van Gogh painted two other versions of the paintings to preserve the composition, one while at an asylum in Saint-Rémy in 1889 and the other as a present for his mother and sister."
The Airbnb listing reads like it was written by van Gogh himself:
"This room will make you feel like you're living in a painting. It's decorated in a Post-Impressionist style, reminiscent of Southern France and times gone by. Its furniture, bright colors, and artwork will give you the experience of a lifetime.
"I'm charging $10 for no other reason than that I need to buy paint. However, I will be happy to provide you with tickets to my exhibition at the Art Institute of Chicago."
Even the furnishings have been shaded with touches of paint to make sure that they fit into the dreamy style of the overall room.
With so much beauty packed in, it might be hard to get an actual solid night's sleep!
The good news is, if you’re lucky enough to get one of the coveted spots for this Airbnb listing, you’ll be allowed to bring a friend. The room accommodates two people and even comes with a bathroom. More importantly, the room only costs 10 bucks per night.
The bad news is, it's already booked solid for the rest of February. The Art Institute says it will release new rental dates on a monthly basis, so be sure to check back in March!
