The Wilson family owned a house, but had a hard time turning it into a home on their own.
Prior to moving into their house in Eastpointe, Detroit, the family was going through a tough time and lived in a shelter.
Once Joseph and Shyanna Wilson finally moved in with their two children, they just couldn't afford to furnish their house.
They didn't have anywhere to sit, nor did they have proper beds to rest their heads at night.
In the video below, posted on February 3, 2017, Shyanna explains, "It was hard. He had to make pallets with blankets and it's not soft like a bed, very restless."
Eric Boles of Serta Restokraft Mattresses says, "The bedroom is your sanctuary. It's the place where you relax and feel truly safe. And not to have a great bedroom, not to have a great mattress, not to be able to experience that every day, would be really difficult."
On the day of this video, the Wilson family returns to their house for the surprise of a lifetime. They open the door to a bunch of strangers and a fully furnished home to call their own. Thanks to a few selfless volunteers, this home makeover changed the Wilsons' lives.
