Woman Transforms Her Staircase Into A Beautiful Stack Of Books

When we move into a new place, home improvement projects are usually one of the first things on our mind — at least, after the packing is over!

My number one favorite resource for home decor DIYs is Pinterest — and I'm sure many of you agree!

It's easy to get lost in the pages and pages of pretty projects, ranging from easy to expert-level like the beautiful DIY planter.

But every so often, something jumps out at us that is beyond pin-worthy, something that we just HAVE to recreate on our own!

This was the case with crafter, mother, and new homeowner Pippa Branham when she saw a staircase online painted to look like a stack of books.

With no tutorial mentioned on how to create the amazing illusion, she got to work making her own version with a collection of her and her husband's all-time favorite reads.

The final results are totally happy, colorful, and whimsical — making her stairs into a work of art.

Having moved into her first permanent home with her husband and daughter, Pippa Branham decided to take on a huge home improvement project.

Wanting to give her boring old stairs some personality, she got to work.

Armed with tubs of matte and silk paints — all bought on sale — she mapped out an idea that was significantly more fun and budget-friendly than simply putting carpet down.

Using inspiration from Pinterest, as well as her and her husband's favorite reads, she started in on the stairs, painting them to look like a colorful stack of books!

The multilevel project needed a lot of safety planning in advance and required her to mix children's play sand with the paint so that it wouldn't become slippery.

She also painted the covers of the books she read at the time that she read them, rather than the covers that are currently out.

This required research, rummaging, trips to the library, and borrowing from family and friends.

The beautiful, intricate book covers took around six weeks to complete, and Branham recalls the hardest part being painting the sideways letters.

When she was finished, her stairs had been transformed into a gigantic library of all her favorite reads! It's any bookworm's dream.

It's sure to be a conversation piece for anyone who walks into her home.

Not only does Branham now have an eye-catching, unique staircase — but she's also instilled her love of books in her adorable little girl.

Though it took a lot of work and planning, the final product is truly stunning and definitely not a conventional DIY.

Branham's makeshift bookcase is an imaginative nod to nostalgia, as well as celebration of all the adventures and characters that the books' pages hold inside.
