108-Year-Old Great-Grandma Has A Surprising Secret To Longevity

Some people truly age like a fine wine. South Carolina gem Miss Willa Mae Moore, who is now 108 years old, continues to do so, and not only for her age, resiliency and spirit, but for her gift of song.

For 100 years, Moore has been singing gospel hymns and lighting up her church with her beautiful melodies. She continues to do so in White Oak Manor in York, SC, where she captures everyone’s attention and bring smiles to everyone she meets.

Moore is a mother to 12 children and a grandmother to 35 grandchildren, as well as a great-grandmother to many grandchildren (she and her daughter have lost count). Grandmas and great-grandmas are precious — we've seen a spunky grandma who also sings and proves she "can do anything better than you", and a grandma who is overjoyed to be reunited with her special teddy bear.

In an earlier video posted to YouTube, Moore is seen singing her favorite gospel tunes at age 103. It’s incredible that she remembers most of the words.

“Wow; I did not realize this video was on YouTube,” said Lewandoski Bryson on YouTube. “‘Ms. Willa’ is my great-grandmother and she is just a living gem to me and my family. Every time I visit her (yes she is still alive in 2016), I take a moment to 1) just sit a gaze at this living legacy, and 2) capture her in video. Whether she is just smiling at those who visit her, nibbling at her meals, or sleeping only as graceful as she can, it is an awesome honor, privilege, and humbling blessing to call her my great-grandmother. What a marvelous and timeless blessing to cherish.”

Everyone wants to know what’s the secret to her longevity, but she just chalks it up to: "I just keep going,” she told WBTV.com.

It must be her strong set of pipes and unwavering faith that brought her to church all of those years! Praise the Lord and God bless Miss Willa Mae Moore!
