When it comes to handling snakes, this Australian tween might just be the bravest of us all! Rosie, 12, saw her pet guinea pig about to be dinner for a huge snake. In an attempt to save the little guy, this girl's brave, quick thinking led her to grab the snake and swing it around until it let go of her pet.
The entire incident was caught on video and shared online. It went viral with over 8,800 views. In the video, you can she her searching for her pet, MaxiBon, in a corner of the backyard. Upon finding her guinea pig, she notices that a snake has the defenseless furry animal in its mouth.
In an interview with 7News Australia, Rosie said that she "didn't even think it through. I was just like, 'Grab the snake, grab the snake.'" Luke Wightman, her father, says he ran outside after hearing his daughter scream at the top of her lungs. He stepped in to help and together, they were able to free the guinea pig from the snake's jaws.
They then threw the snake over their garden wall. "I realized that wasn't ideal [for the neighbors], and I chased after it and watched it slither away unhurt although a little dizzy," he explained. He went on to share that since the incident, Rosie is doing well and is "just super relieved that MaxiBon survived."
