Over the course of our busy days, we sometimes lose track of things. Maybe we forget the time of our appointments, or even where we put our keys. It's usually harmless to forget certain things, but when Robert Neria left his wallet on top of his car while getting gas, he was in for an unpleasant surprise.
As he drove off, the wallet fell off his vehicle — and it held more than $300 in cash.
Unfortunately, the wallet was open, and the bills went flying around, ready to be grabbed by anyone passing through.
Luckily, brothers and volunteer firefighters Marshall and Andrew Field stopped at the same convenience store. They found the open wallet on the ground and managed to scoop up all the cash. They didn't think twice about taking all the valuables.
However, they weren't taking the money for themselves, though they could have easily used it (between them, they have six kids). Instead, they tracked down and eventually found the wallet's owner.
Robert knows how lucky he is: not everyone would returned that much cash. Without it, he says that paying his bills would have been quite the struggle.
Marshall told News 9, “If you were in his position, and if it was your money you dropped and you worked hard for it, you need to get it back and provide for your children and your family."
