Rosa Salgado isn't your typical 80-year-old grandma.
Besides looking decades younger than her age, she is one of a handful of grandmothers who can say they've done this with their children.
Salgado is graduating from the Miami Dade College in Florida, an unexpected achievement for someone her age. But that's just the beginning of the surprise — when I saw who she's going to do it with, I couldn't stop smiling!
I love folks like Salgado and 72-year-old veteran Jimmie Turpin who just graduated high school who prove it is never too late in life to achieve your goals!
She will receive an associate of arts degree in education, and it's been a long time coming.
“I would say to students, young, old or in the middle, that every day they have to fight to learn because learning is wonderful,” Salgado said. “And I know there are a lot of things I still have to learn.”
During Salgado's pursuit of an education she was met with many roadblocks but she never gave up.
She still plans to get back to work!
“I am going to think about creating poems about children because I like poems. I am going to illustrate some stories for children,” she said.
“I love art and education and anything to do with children.”
See how Salgado overcame the many obstacles life threw her way and became a hero to her children and grandkids in the video below.
