He Walks Inside This Abandoned Mansion, But What He Finds? WHOA…

Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children is the debut novel by American author Ransom Riggs. The book tells the tale of a boy who, following a horrific family tragedy, follows clues that take him to an abandoned orphanage on a Welsh island. The story is told through a combination of words and photos from the personal archives of collectors listed by the author.

Ransom was so dedicated to making his novel as realistic as possible that he flew to Belgium to go "urban exploring," seeking out and photographing the abandoned homes like the ones in his book. As you'll see in the video below, what he discovered inside these fascinating dwellings was nothing short of amazing. Homes that had been unoccupied for decades went untouched but showed their age with dust, cobwebs, and an eerie feeling of loneliness.

…And guess what? Hollywood came calling when they saw the impact of Ransom's work. Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children is being turned into a movie, directed by the master of creepy himself: Tim Burton.
