After weeks of discussing birthday plans and not nailing down anything, Cheska Nolasco decided to throw her boyfriend a surprise party instead. She planned everything, inviting both their family and family, and felt it'd make for the best birthday ever. What she didn't anticipate was her boyfriend, actor Guji Lorenzana, to find out about it.
"She had been planning the perfect surprise birthday for me. All my friends knew. But when they found out that I would be proposing a day after her surprise, they felt it would be fit to fill me in on her little secret. The result would be one of the most romantic and memorable moments of our relationship," Lorenzana wrote on YouTube.
"Days before this, I properly asked her parents for their blessing. It was perfect," he added.
On the day of his surprise party, Lorenzana walked into the apartment, acting completely shocked. As he went to thank his girlfriend and give her a hug, he turned the tables on her and got down on one knee. She definitely didn't see that one coming!
From flash mobs to magical surprises, there have been plenty of over-the-top engagement proposals, but none are quite as sweet — and unexpected — as this one.
When Nolasco realizes her boyfriend is holding a diamond radiance cut engagement ring that "she'd been hoping and wishing for," she begins to cry happy tears and has the most adorable reaction.
"I was definitely nervous because she might think it was too soon. Many couples may think that a year would be long enough to date before popping the question, but because she comes from a more traditional upbringing, I was afraid she would think this was too soon. But overall, I think I was just more nervous and afraid she would not like that the attention being turned on her after supposedly being my surprise birthday party. But in the end it all worked out fine," Lorenzana told LittleThings. "She said yes!"
As for setting a wedding date, the pair went to a see a Feng Shui master to help them.
"The best date for us to get married would be on February 28, 2016. So it's set for that date," Lorenzana said.
