During a relentless cross-examination, conspiracy theorist and Infowars host Alex Jones finally acknowledged that the Sandy Hook massacre was not a hoax.
His admission came the day after Neil Heslin and Scarlett Lewis, the parents of a 6-year-old little boy named Jesse who was killed in the mass shooting, testified about his lies. Jones skipped the testimony in order to appear on his show, a move Heslin called "cowardly."
The couple said the conspiracy theorist amplified their suffering by spreading lies on his platform that resulted in those who believed them harassing them, even sending them death threats. They said they fear for their lives. “I can’t even describe the last nine and a half years, the living hell that I and others have had to endure because of the recklessness and negligence of Alex Jones,” Heslin told the court.
But on Wednesday, Jones finally acknowledged his lies. "It's 100% real," Alex Jones said after being pressed by lawyers.
Earlier in the day, Jones appeared on his broadcast. He told his audience that the grieving father, Neil Heslin, is "slow." His wife, Scarlett Lewis, spoke directly to Jones, saying, “I am a mother first and foremost and I know you are a father. My son existed,” she said. “I am not deep state … I know you know that … And yet you’re going to leave this courthouse and say it again on your show.”
She also asked Jones if he believes she is an actor. “No, I don’t think you’re an actor,” he replied.
In a heated exchange, the judge scolded Jones for lying on the stand repeatedly. "This isn't your show," Judge Maya Guerra Gamble told him after sending the jury out of the room. “Your beliefs do not make something true. You are under oath.”
