Rescue Squirrel Is Winning Over Everyone’s Hearts

South Carolina has been hit hard these past few days. Since the storm floods began: Dams have failed, 17 lives have been lost, bridges and roads have been destroyed, homes have been wiped out — all totaling to a cleanup bill of over $1 billion.

While South Carolina is still dealing with the massive amounts of flooding, many who have lost everything feel as if all hope is gone. With so much destroyed from the disaster, with thousands without water or power, insurance costs skyrocketing — would there ever be a better tomorrow?

That's when Sarah Scruggs of Columbia noticed a small fluff of brown laying underwater in a puddle. When she saw what it was, she immediately went into action and brought the baby inside, wrapped him in a warm hoody, and nursed the baby Squirrel back to health.

Sarah is a talented photographer and artist, so it was lucky that she was there to record this beautiful baby Squirrel's story for the whole world to see!

As the state begins its arduous clean up process, this little squirrel and his friend Sarah have become a symbol of hope. King Arthur the squirrel represents everything that is good in humanity; that even darkness must pass, and that there are things worth fighting for.

At first it seemed as if the little guy didn't have a chance. But after a few hours he began to become more responsive. That's when Sarah named him: King Arthur of the Flood!

For the first few days she fed him puppy formula to help nurse him back to health. The 5-week-old baby soon began to gain strength.

Soon enough, the little baby began to squiggle through Sarah's home. It seems that she's gotten this baby through the hardest part of his life! But even though she loves him very much, she knows she'll have to do her best to return him to the wild.

“I want him to be able to jump and climb and have squirrel buddies,” Sarah told Good Morning America. “I'm hoping he will transition back to his habitat well.”

While this squirrel is doing a lot of "soul therapy" for the devastated community, it should be remembered that there will always be a brighter tomorrow if we all work together.
