Alan Jackson is someone I think of as a true "Southern Man." The Georgia-born singer, songwriter, and musician normally doesn't stray far from his traditional blend of honky-tonk and contemporary country sound, but I have to admit I was blown away when he performed a surprising cover in the following video.
Jackson is a music industry veteran who has been around for over 25 years, so it's not surprising that he wanted to try something a little different. In 2013, Jackson released Precious Memories Volume II, his 18th studio album and a follow-up to 2006's Precious Memories.
The first song on the album is one that has been covered in just about every way by anyone who can carry a tune. However, I feel like Alan Jackson's performance of "Amazing Grace" was one of the first times I really heard this beautiful song in all of its glory.
