This Tennessee Native Blew The Judges On ‘American Idol’ Away When He Hit This Note

When we first saw Clark Beckham appear on American Idol, he auditioned with James Brown’s 1960s hit “It's A Man's World.”

The 22-year-old Tennessee native brought some more soul when he performed Percy Sledge’s “When a Man Loves a Woman” as one of the Top 24 of season 14.

Beckham, a street singer from White House, TN received a standing ovation from Keith Urban. The other judges were equally impressed, especially by the high note he hit in the middle of the tune. That note at 1:13 in the video below is simply music to my ears!

“I have so many things I could say about your performance,” Jennifer Lopez said. “I’m just gonna say: Goosies [goosebumps] all day.”

Judge Harry Connick, Jr., who wasn’t much of fan during Beckham’s audition, even called him “extremely talented.”

“I think if you’re fortunate enough to go on in the competition… it’ll be really fun to sort of get into the nitty-gritty of things,” he added.
