The way our childhood peers make us feel can affect us for the rest of our lives. While we may have met some of our lifelong friends during adolescent years, we also may have come across those who have hurt us with their words — although they might not have even realized it.
But it's all about how you turn those negative experiences into positives over the course of time, just like this young girl did when a bully poured superglue all over her hair.
Lindita Halimi took the American Idol stage on January 6, 2016. Although anyone meeting her for the first time would think that she had all the confidence in the world, that wasn't always the case.
When the 26-year-old was growing up, she was always recognized for her amazing voice, though peers also made comments about her being “fat.” However, she never let the unkind words fully get her down.
When she decided to audition for the show, she made a promise to herself to finally lose weight — not for those who judged her in the past, but for herself.
And so, Halimi ended up losing 150 pounds prior to the performance, for which she wore a bright-yellow crop top. Her confident look matched her voice, and the judges were completely blown away by her soulful performance of James Brown's "It's a Man's Man's Man's World."
They only recognized her amazing talent, they also saw her incredibly strong passion.
