Husband Inherits Ancient, Mysterious Ax Handle, Then Realizes It’s A Priceless Artifact

Fans of Antiques Roadshow love learning about awesome and rare items, but more importantly, finding out what they're worth. Imagine having something lying around your house and having no idea what it is, or how much money it could fetch!

The man in the video below truly knows what it's like to be clueless to an item's worth. He went on the show without a single clue of the treasure he had in hand!

The item was an old family gift, but he never could have imagined exactly what it was.

“My wife has a 99-year-old aunt in Tucson, Arizona. She thought it was a shillelagh, and I liked the heft of it, so she said I could have it,” he said. “She got it from her father, who was General Aikens, two-star general under MacArthur. I have no idea what it is. I know it’s really fine to the hand.”

Well, from the reaction of host Anthony Slayter-Ralph, the man is in for something special indeed.

“I’m really excited,” he said. “It’s an extraordinary object, and it’s from the Eskimo.”

In fact, Anthony informed the man that the item was actually an ancient Eskimo handle, either for an ax or a tool.

He said it was probably crafted during the 12th and 15th century! Who knew a family gift could have such a long history behind it?

But the real question is: how much is the artifact worth?

Any guesses? Find out in the video below, and please SHARE it on Facebook!
