Military service members and their family members know how tough it is to keep in touch while they're deployed. One 23-year-old from Denver recently opened up about the work she and her mom do to stay connected while she is in Kuwait.
Spc. Samantha Cordova is currently 7,000 miles from her mom, who is her biggest supporter.
She explains that she and her mom have a few fun ways they stay in touch:
"We’ve been able to write letters and call each other on the phone and you have FaceTime calls as well. So, thank God there is some technology there so you can still communicate with each other."
She also says that her mom was the first person to celebrate when she joined the Army:
"Her response actually shocked me because she said, 'This is who you were meant to be. This is what you were meant to do.'"
