With all of the heartbreaking stories we read in the news, it's nice to hear that there are some genuinely kind people out there…
The following story from ABC News put such a smile on my face and such joy in my heart. It's just a shame that it took so long for someone to recognize this man's amazing work.
Meet Arnold Harvey. This man from Silver Spring, MD has one of the toughest jobs in the city: He's a garbage man by day, but by night, he has a secret life. While many of us are still sleeping, Harvey wakes up and gets in his truck to drop off bags on the street…only they aren't bags of trash.
Inside are sandwiches and other delicious foods, made with love the night before by Harvey and his wife. He delivers what he calls "love bags," which also contain toiletries and other necessities, to the city's rapidly growing homeless population.
Harvey has been doing this since 2007, when he noticed more homeless folks than ever while making the rounds in his truck. In 2014, ABC News recognized the Waste Management employee for the amazing way he volunteers his time by naming him one of their "heroes."
Check out Harvey's incredible story and please SHARE — hopefully this will encourage others to help make a difference!
