In a child's lifetime, a thousand owwies will be kissed. Hundreds of dinners will begin with "eat your veggies." Millions of monsters will be scared away, and even more groundings will be enforced. A parent will do anything and everything to make sure their precious children become strong, healthy adults.
But sometimes, despite all their loving efforts, a parent can only do so much. Life tends to have its own mysterious plans for us, and usually, those plans don't mesh with ours.
This is exactly what happened to John D'eri, a Florida business owner and father of two wonderful sons. Everything seemed to be on a straight path until John's younger son, Andrew, turned three years old. That's when he was diagnosed with autism.
But John was determined to help his son achieve success and lead a normal life. At the age of 22, when Andrew neared the cutoff age for government support, John knew he had to do something.
