A premature baby born at 1 lb., 5 oz., is going home for the first time after spending nine months in the hospital! Baby Margo spent almost the first year of her life in the neonatal intensive care unit, so her discharge from Children's Hospital New Orleans is a story that has captured the hearts of many. Savanna and Daniel Buller were joined by doctors, nurses, and staff members to celebrate their daughter's journey home. "I keep thinking to myself, I must be dreaming!" mom, Savanna, told Good Morning America.
"I can't believe we are actually taking our baby home today," she shared. "It has been such a long journey and we are so excited to share Margo with her siblings. We look forward to the summer and spending some very-much-needed time as [a] family of six!"
Margo was born at 25 weeks on August 14, 2023, at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital for Women where Savanna also happens to be a labor and delivery nurse. She had developed preeclampsia, and after her blood pressure climbed to a dangerous level, doctors advised her to deliver the baby.

At around three weeks in the NICU, she developed necrotizing enterocolitis, a life-threatening condition of the intestinal tract where bacteria in the gut can cause the intestinal lining to become inflamed and die, according to the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development. She required multiple treatments to get better.
"Margo has defied the odds, not once, not twice," Savanna shared. "They've sat us down close to five times to tell us, 'It doesn't look good. You know, Margo might not pull through this, but we're gonna keep on fighting with her.' And every time … she's surprised us."
